Congress and the Crozier

Father Robert F. Drinan will address the role that the Roman Catholic Church in the United States is seeking to fulfill in recent years. He will speak about the various and contoversial episcopal pastorals on nuclear war, the economy, and the rights of women. Following so soon after the 1988 Presidential elections, former Congressman Drinan will assess the role that religious issues have played in the campaign for the Presidency. His talk will have both an ecumenical and an inter-faith focus.

Robert F. Drinan, S.J

Robert F. Drinan, a priest of the Society of Jesus, is presently Professor of Law, Georgetown University Law Center, Washington, D.C. He specializes in international human rights, constitutional law, civil liberties, professional responsibility, and arms control. He was Deand and Professor of Law, Boston College Lasw Schoool, and a Member of Congress, House of Representatives, from 1971 to 1981. He is the author of numerous books including: Cry of the Oppressed - The history and hope of the Human Rights Revolution, Goad and Caesar on the Potomac: A pilgrimage of Consience, Beyond the Nuclear Freeze, and Vietnam and Armageddon. Lawyer, theologian, columnist, and editor, Father Drinan holds nineteen honorary degrees.
