Free Software: The Gnu Project

Richard Stallman argues that all software should be "free", that is, people should have access to the "source code" in order to alter it, edit it and redistribute it (as long as they release the source code). Come listen to this original thinker.

Richard Stallman

Richard Stallman writes important software programs used on tens of million of computers around the world (including thousands at UW alone). He gives them away free. He is the founder of the GNU Project, fundamental contributor to GNU/Linux systems, and the principal author of the GNU C Compiler (GCC), the GNU symbolic debugger (GDB), GNU Emacs and various other programs.
