Since 1998, Sr. Pat Murray has served as the General Counsultor for the Institute of the Blessed Virgin Mary, based in Rome. She has special responsibility for coordinating international initiatives in Education as well as Justice, Peace and the Integrity of Creation. In this capacity, she has traveled to India, South Africa, Mauritius, Vietnam, Australia, Peru, Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Spain, and the United Kingdom. She has a Masters degree in Theology with a Cross-Cultural Studies concentration from Catholic Theological Union in Chicago and has lectured at many colleges, including Trinity College Dublin, University College Dublin, and St. Patrick’s College Maynooth.

Drawing on her experiences with people in the lands of the Lakota Sioux, post-communist Bulgaria, the Turkana desert, and multi-cultural Kolkata (Calcutta), Sr. Pat Murray explores the challenges contained in the words, justice, compassion, and hope. She offers personal and practical educational strategies for individuals and groups to develop hope-filled action that deepens the quality of human living. She challenges us to develop and deepen a spirituality that will influence everyday living as members of the global community. Such a spirituality, she suggests, can offer rich treasures for deeper living.
