St. John of the Cross, the Spanish Mystic (1542-1591) saw Christian life as a journey to oneness with God. To be fully human, he taught that the person must move from enslavement to freedom. It is this process which makes one participate fully in Divine Life here and now. Through it all, the person and God journey together along the integrating path which is mysticism now.
