This lecture examines the papacy of Paul VI, and evaluates the late Pope’s major initiatives and achievements.
Peter Hebblethwaite
Peter Hebblethwaite has been writing books on the contemporary church since 1965 when he attended the final session of Vatican II. A recognized Vatican affairs expert, he is the author of "The Runaway Church" (1975), "Christian-Marxist Dialogue and Beyond" (1977), "The year of Three Popes" (1979) and "In the Vatican" (1987). He is best known for "John XXIII, Pope of the Council" (1984). He hopes to complete by the end of 1991 "Paul VI: The First Modern Pope" , the theme of this lecture.
